Margo has practiced dietetics and nutrition for 20 years, predominantly focused on the development, growth and leadership of school-based nutrition programs in Nova Scotia school communities. As a former consultant at the Department of Health and Wellness, alongside stakeholders, Margo led the creation of the registered charitable organization, Nourish Nova Scotia and facilitated the transition of the provincial school breakfast program into Nourish. As the organization’s Executive Director, she collaborates with dedicated stakeholders and partners to co-create meaningful change to support sustainability for both program delivery and diversity. Margo believes healthy food environments are incredibly important to enable Nova Scotia students to grow, learn and to thrive – not only for health and education outcomes, but to benefit the social and economic prosperity of Nova Scotia as a whole. Margo lives in Bedford with her wonderful husband of 24 years and sidekick Lily. In the summer you can find her endeavoring to preserve an old 1876 school house on the Bay of Fundy, grow heirloom vegetables, and challenge herself in the kitchen with new recipes and cooking techniques.
